Bushcraft & Tactical Survival

with Joel Graves & Matt Tate from Discovery Channel's Bushcraft Build-off

OUR MISSION

Our mission is simple, prepare you for your worst day, so it won't be your last day.

You've seen our instructors compete on Discovery Channel's Bushcraft Build-Off and now you get to learn from them first-hand. They combine their experience as combat veterans serving in dangerous locations around the world with their love for adventure and bushcraft, to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether you are an avid outdoorsmen or never built a fire, there is something for everyone at our survival school.

Our instructors are dedicated to providing quality survival education and skills training, and we spend time with students individually to ensure their success. While we take our subjects and mission seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously. You will find in the midst of learning, you're also laughing and truly enjoying the time you spend with our survival instructors, whether it is a group survival class, private survival training, corporate team building, a guided camping experience or another survival adventure.

EXPERT INSTRUCTION

From Discovery Channel's Bushcraft Build-off - our instructors are some of the most experienced survivalists around.

Joel Graves

Lead Instructor, Retired Special Operations
Joel brings an extremely extensive military and tactical background. Serving as Naval Special Warfare EOD on Seal Team 2, which is arguably one of the most elite and highly trained bomb squads in the world, he spent time in Iraq, Bahrain and Afghanistan. He's provided secret service protection in multiple countries for President Bush, President Obama and VP Biden.

Joel’s bushcraft and survival skillset is as equally impressive. Following his retirement from special forces, Joel spent six months in a long-term survival program where he slept in the field for 5 months, living off the land and honing his craft. He has extensive SERE training in both Urban and Wilderness, and most recently competed on Discovery Channel’s Bushcraft Build-off.

“He is one of the best survivalists we have had the privilege to train with.” - Sigma 3 Survival School
Matt Tate Arkansas Survival

Matt Tate

Lead Instructor, Owner of Integrated Survival Systems
Matt's love of survival started as young kid growing up in a Cherokee community where the old ways of hunting, fishing and bushcraft of the Native American culture are still cherished.

Today, he owns Integrated Survival Systems and pursues his passion of teaching others life-saving survival techniques. He holds a patent for a mission adaptable holster currently used by Tier One operators and has designed a knife with Dozier knives specific to survival training.

His survival experience is matched by his tactical experience; serving as an Army Engineer in Fallujah, Matt encountered heavy combat. He then went on to serve with the Oklahoma Military Dept, Employment Security Commission and the Executive Branch of the US Govt.

  • "Second to none"

This training is truly second to none. Joel Graves' knowledge is only surpassed by his patience and willingness to share his skills. He teaches with enthusiasm and sincere interest in the success of his students. I personally appreciate that he keeps it simple so one does not get overwhelmed with the innumerable skills it takes to survive.

  • "Get a lot more than you pay for"

I have had some training from matt...I know how much combined experience and knowledge they are bringing to the table, and it is well worth the time and money. For the customer not all brands are equal. That is true for this group as you get a lot more than you pay for.

  • "Highly recommend it"

We had our company out for team building. Highly recommend it! The instructors clearly know how to survive in the wilderness as well as giving us great information with real-life business applications for our team's communication and development. We will team build with them again!

  • "The best I've had the privilege to train with"

I've had the opportunity to train with several survival instructors in Florida and Arkansas and I rank Joel Graves as the best instructor I've had the privilege to train with. JG is extremely knowledgeable on all things bushcraft-related and he works hard to make sure that his students walk away with their "money's worth" of quality instruction. In the last survival fishing class I took with him, he went above and beyond to teach-despite the fact that, logistically, the class could have been cancelled. I look forward to all future classes with him and wish him success with his new company! P.S. - A highlight of all overnight classes with Joel are the campfire stories. Hilarious and unforgettable!

  • "Passion for teaching shines through"

This weekend we had our Core Survival Course. Matthew Tate with American Survival Co. and Integrated Survival Systems is our lead instructor and his passion for teaching shines through in each class. Not only do we teach survival but we enhance people’s ability to be self reliant and more confident in their skills and abilities. This class is great for people who want to come get a chance to evaluate what their skill level is currently and see where they can improve or just start the building process from scratch.

  • "Wish I could have stayed longer"

JG packed an incredible amount of survival knowledge and skill practice in the short span of one week. I wish I could have stayed longer because there was so much to learn. JG is a very good teacher for wilderness survival skills, especially for people who have experience and want to acquire advanced training.

  • "Willing to go the extra step"

have taken several classes with Joel and all were outstanding. He was willing to go the extra step to make sure every participant accomplished what they were there to learn. Joel has the ability to adapt to every individuals learning curve. Thanks for the new skills.
